Programme Details
For International Students
You must be a current student registered at another University and have completed at least two semesters (one full year) of college/university. You must continue to assume this status throughout the duration of the Global Science Summer Programme.
There are no formal prerequisites for the courses. Students are expected to have some basic preferred knowledge and / or strong interest in the area chosen. As all courses will be taught and assessed in English, students should be proficient in the English language. Students from non-partner and non-English medium universities1 must meet the requirements stated below and provide proof of their English proficiency.

For NUS Students
NUS students should refer to the respective courses for information on prerequisites and preclusions.
Courses will be offered to suitable applicants on a first-come-first-served basis until vacancies are filled.

If I do not have the basic knowledge for the course, can I still apply?
Yes. After application, we will assess your suitability to take the course.
I am from an English medium institution. Do I need to submit proof of my English language proficiency?
No, you are not required to submit proof of your English language proficiency.
I am from a non-English medium institution. Do I need to submit proof of my English language proficiency? What are the requirements for Test of English as a Foreign Language [TOEFL] or the International English Language Testing System [IELTS]?
If you are from a non-English medium institution and not from NUS Partner Universities, you are required to submit proof of your English language proficiency. As all courses will be taught and assessed in English, students should be proficient in the English language. Students must meet the requirements stated below and provide proof of their English proficiency.

What are the available modes of payment for the application and course fee?
Payments can be made with credit card via Visa, MasterCard and Amex. For students with a Singapore bank account, you may pay using PayNow QR.
Can I change the course(s) which I have registered for?
Please write in to SCI UG Queries (NUS students) or scisap@nus.edu.sg (international students) to request for a change in course(s). All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and subject to availability, before the Global Science Summer Programme starts.
Can I drop a course I have registered for?
Yes, you may. Please notify us by writing to SCI UG Queries (NUS students) or scisap@nus.edu.sg (international students), clearly indicating the course(s) you wish to drop. Please note that you will be deemed as withdrawing from the programme if you do not enrol in any one course. Regardless of your reasons for cancellation (e.g. visa refusal), the following cancellation policy applies after registering for a course:

How can I withdraw from the programme?
Please notify us by writing to SCI UG Queries (NUS students) or scisap@nus.edu.sg (international students). Regardless of your reasons for cancellation (e.g. visa refusal), the following cancellation policy applies after registering for a course:

What do I do after I have applied for the programme online?
You will be informed of the subsequent application procedures via email.
Are there any scholarships or financial assistance for NUS students and international students who are interested in the Global Science Summer Programme?
There are no scholarships or financial assistance for both NUS and international students at the moment. International students may check with their home universities if there are any scholarships or grants to apply to for summer school programmes.
I am an international student. Do I need to apply for student visa or tourist visa on my own?
Yes, you are required to apply for an entry visa to Singapore if you are holding a passport from a visa-required country. A Letter of Introduction for Visa Application (LOI) will be sent to you via email after payment for the course(s) has been made to NUS. Please note that you are required to pay the application fee for the visa as imposed by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore.

What documents do I have to submit to the online registration and payment platform?
NUS student
- Unofficial academic transcript (downloadable from EduRec)
International student – from NUS Partner Universities or whose medium of instruction is English
- Official academic transcript
International student – not from NUS Partner Universities and whose medium of instruction is not English
- Official academic transcript
- TOEFL/ IELTS certificate
Are there other documents I need to submit for the application?
Yes, for international students you will be informed to submit the following documents at a later stage in the application process:
- Official academic transcript, including the grade legend*
- Passport
- Record of courses taken in current semester/term
- Student status letter from Home University*
- Documentary proof of financial support in English*
- TOEFL/ IELTS test scores (for students not from NUS partner universities and non-English medium institution)*
*These documents are also required to be submitted in hardcopy by post.
Is on-campus accommodation compulsory?
No, it is optional for both NUS and international students. International students are to look for your own off-campus housing if you choose not to stay on-campus.
If I apply for on-campus housing, will I be guaranteed a place?
No, we are unable to guarantee a place. We will inform you in writing whether you manage to secure on-campus housing.
Please note that with the current NUS housing crunch, there are fewer rooms available, so there is a high chance that you would have to source for off-campus housing.
Does the accommodation cost include meal plans?
Meal plans are not available during school vacation and summer programmes. The campus offers various dining options. Please refer to https://uci.nus.edu.sg/oca/retail-dining/food-and-beverages/.
