The diverse demands of the new environment make university life both exciting and satisfying, but it may also be stressful. The university faces a dilemma because of the availability of blended delivery and the large number of students who are still living at home, as they are aware that not all students interact with student services. Since students come from a variety of backgrounds, the university offers a wide range of assistance to ensure that everyone can succeed in their studies and enjoy their time there. The student life team is a great place to start if you need support or advice on a wide range of issues, so check the website for more information. This is true whether you are coping with challenging family circumstances, balancing competing priorities, or need support with an impairment or learning difference.
Academic Support
Have issues with your course? Speak to your friendly tutors, academic staff, or support staff if you’re having academic difficulties or aren’t enjoying the course to determine what you want to do. We are here to support you through university and to direct you toward your academic and professional objectives. Before making a decision, be sure to fully understand all of your alternatives. You may be able to modify your subject or take a semester off (LOA).
If you have special needs, the Student Accessibility Unit can help facilitate arrangements for assistance, including accessibility and transportation, internships and employment, as well as scholarships and bursaries.
Support Services
Here you can find out about the support available to you including help from your Student Support Manager, the Counselling Service, the Peer Student Supporter, and more – including 24 hour services.
Each faculty at the university has a group of student support managers or a point of contact who can assist with your academic and personal needs as well as guide you through the university’s assistance alternatives. Please refer to the information about how to contact us below.

“We have barely scratched the surface of Timor-Leste’s biodiversity. New discoveries can have profound impacts on conservation and policy-making.”
In August 2022, we led an expedition to Timor-Leste in collaboration with Conservation International and the government of Timor-Leste. The Museum’s herpetologist, Dr CHAN Kin Onn, discovered a new species of bent-toed gecko which was named Cyrtodactylus santana, in reference to the Nino Konis Santana National Park, in which the gecko was discovered.
