Science Alumni-Student Mentorship Programme

Background

The Science Alumni-Student Mentorship Programme was launched in July 2022 with the intent of having a more structured mentorship programme for Science undergraduate students to connect with our established Science alumni. The programme aims to:

  • help our students to be better prepared for their future career paths by learning and shadowing their graduated seniors.
  • enhance our students’ interpersonal skills and knowledge
  • increase our students’ likelihood of securing employment through expansion of meaningful professional networks
  • allow alumni mentors to play an integral role in the journey of students; providing for a meaningful and rewarding experience
  • create a platform for alumni to contribute back to their alma matar.

In the recently concluded 3rd iteration of the Science Alumni-Student Mentorship Progrmame (AY24/25), a total of 78 alumni mentors were paired to 190 undergraduate student mentees.

How does this Mentorship Programme work?

We will reach out to our mentors and students at the start of the application season to seek their participation interest in the programme.

They will complete an online registration form with essential information collected to facilitate the matching process. Where possible, we will pair mentees with mentors that have the relevant expertise and experience in their declared career interests.

Programme Timeline

Arising from the feedback we received, future editions of the mentorship programme will now be extended to 10 months so that alumni mentors have more time to meet up with their mentees, especially during the summer break.

We are pleased to share that our mentee application cycle is now open. Please click here to apply.
