July 10, 2023Congratulations to Assistant Professor KOH Ming Joo from the Department of Chemistry who was named in the Asian Scientist 100 (2023) list!
Asst Prof Koh’s research on sustainable catalysis technologies led to the discovery of cheaper, energy-efficient catalysts that transform abundant feedstock chemicals to value-added products that benefit industry.
Asst Prof Koh has received various noteworthy international and national accolades, including being named in MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35 Asia Pacific list (2021) and the Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN)’s Talented 12 (2022) from the American Chemical Society. In 2022, he received the Singapore National Academy of Science’s Young Scientist Award.
He also publishes extensively in top scientific journals such as Nature Catalysis, Nature Chemistry and Chem.
Asst Prof Koh said, “This recognition will motivate us to continue in our stride towards achieving greater sustainability in chemical synthesis.”
Honourees on the Asian Scientist 100 list are recipients of national or international awards in the preceding year, who have contributed to significant scientific discoveries.
