This year’s Young Researcher Award recipient, Assoc Prof LU Jiong, Department of Chemistry, is a rising star in the field of atomic-scale material design for solid-state devices and catalysis.
He is known for his creative work involving large-scale synthesis of atomically precise single-atom catalysts. These technologies are important for many industrial applications related to sustainable chemical and energy transformations. He also contributed to the advancement of scalable fabrication for high-quality two-dimensional conducting and superconducting inks.
His discoveries offer high potential to create new materials properties with prospective applications such as flexible display, biomedical and chemical sensors, and wearable electronics.
Assoc Prof Lu is a productive researcher with high quality scientific discoveries that have been quoted in hundreds of top journals. Since he joined NUS in 2015, he has published 73 papers, with two-thirds as the corresponding author in top journals such as Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Materials, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie and Physical Review Letters.
