Nadjad is part of the NanoBio Lab team that developed a new method for extremely rapid amplification of nucleic acids that enables detection of COVID-19 within five minutes.
The breakthrough method can multiply the genetic material of the virus in patient samples exponentially at a single temperature.
Nadjad says, “This novel method reduces the complexity of devices used for the detection of pathogens and contributes towards accurate and early detection, enabling appropriate care for patients and identifying of vulnerable population segments.”
He adds, “The application of sensitive, accurate and rapid diagnostics will continue to have a key role in protecting not just the health of communities but also in aiding the opening up of trade and economies.”
