Founded in 1928, LKF is one of the oldest medical companies in Singapore which manufactures a range of pharmaceutical products including the well-known Axe Brand medicated oil used for quick relief of cold and headaches. This highly popular product has been on the market for more than 70 years and is sold in more than 50 countries.

In appreciation of the generous gift, Dean of Science Prof SHEN Zuowei hosted lunch for Mr Leong Mun Sum, his daughter Ms Audrey LEONG and Mr Chris LEONG, LKF’s General Manager. Also present at lunch were Prof Christina CHAI, Head of Pharmacy, Prof Pastorin, as well as Mr Kevin ONG and Mr Alan LEE from NUS’ Development Office.

This was followed by a tour of the GEA-NUS Pharmaceutical Processing Research Laboratory (GEA-NUS) which was established in April 1997 with the support of the then National Science and Technology Board (currently known as A*STAR), NUS and the GEA Group of Companies. GEA-NUS has since progressed to become a renowned pharmaceutical research centre in the region, dedicated to creating and transferring innovative formulation science and advanced process technology from the academia to the pharmaceutical and allied industries.
