Undergraduate Professional Internship Programme (UPIP) for Employers

Internships are a good way for employers to identify potential students to engage upon graduation and to discover the changing qualities of the workforce. On the other hand, internship experience provides our students invaluable experiential training. It also gives them a headstart to explore and discover their career paths.

The Undergraduate Professional Internship Programme (UPIP) aims to encourage Science students to take up internships as a structured programme. UPIP runs thrice every academic year – Semester 1 (August to December), Semester 2 (January to May) and Special Term (May to July). Students have to complete a minimum period of 18 weeks for Semester UPIP and 10 weeks for Special Term UPIP.

During the internship, students work with a supervisor in the organisation. The student will discuss with the workplace supervisor and come up with a work plan for the internship. The student will need to submit the work plan on NUS TalentConnect portal for their Academic Advisor’s and UPIP Administration’s approval. At the end of the internship, the workplace supervisor is required to complete an evaluation on NUS TalentConnect portal on the performance of the student.

Employers offering internships will have to register the offered position during the semester before the internship.
