Homecoming 2017

Bukit Timah Homecoming

The much-anticipated annual Homecoming was held at the Bukit Timah Campus on 1 July. The event was organised by the NUS Office of Alumni Relations in partnership with the Development Office.

The event was graced by NUS President Professor TAN Chorh Chuan; Dean of Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Professor Kishore MAHBUBANI; and Dean of Faculty of Law, Professor Simon CHESTERMAN.

This year's celebration was especially meaningful, and included activities to raise funds for financially needy students.

The Faculty of Science’s Director of Alumni Relations Prof CHAN Woon Khiong and Alumni Consultant Dr Lawrence CHIA welcomed and hosted more than 80 Science alumni from different disciplines and cohorts. Guests were immersed in the Wild Wild West theme with country music performances by Matthew and the Mandarins, and a song and dance session led by the NUS Alumni Sing-Along.

Ms Evelyn GOH, Class of 1986, said, “The event was a great opportunity for us to network and reconnect with fellow alumni!”

Kent Ridge Alumni Family Day

On 19 August, the Kent Ridge Alumni Family Day welcomed close to 5,000 alumni, students, staff and their families to NUS University Town. Organised by NUS Alumni Relations, the annual Family Day is a key event to welcome the NUS alumni community home to the Kent Ridge campus.

The guests had a glimpse of modern campus life and enjoyed carnival activities at various Faculty booths. At the Faculty of Science booth, the Forensic Science Alumni Group brought alive the CSI – Crime Scene Investigation experience to intrigued guests. The alumni and student volunteers shared insights of forensic science work through mock crime scenes and hands-on activities such as fingerprint lifting.

In the evening, the guests had picnic sessions on Town Green and enjoyed live music performances by alumni and student groups. The event ended with the largest outdoor movie screening on campus of the popular animated film, Trolls.
