University of Toronto Summer Session
Enrich your academic experience at University of Toronto (UofT), Canada’s premier university while living on the University’s historic campus in the centre of the city of Toronto during the beautiful summer season. University of Toronto Summer Term is offered exclusively to Faculty of Science students only.
The programme takes place in Toronto, Canada.
Summer Session 1 1: 6 May 2019 to 26 June 2019. 1st day of classes will begin on 6 May and there will be a mandatory orientation session on 7 May.
Summer Session 2: 2 July 2019 to 22 August 2019. Students would need to apply for Leave of Absence via myEduRec for the period of 12 August 2019 up to 23 August 2019, depending on the date of the last exam in UofT.
Complete schedule of summer courses and descriptions from the Faculty of Arts and Science is available online at University of Toronto website every mid-January. Students need to take courses on a letter-graded basis.
Students are required to enrol in 1 credit per summer term, which is equivalent to 2 courses. Students can only go for one summer term. The credit could be mapped back to 8 Modular Credits (MCs) in NUS. Module mapping must be done before programme commencement.
With effect from AY2018/2019, students may transfer up to a maximum of 10 Modular Credits (MCs) for each summer programme (takes place between May and July) and up to a maximum of 5 MCs for each winter programme (takes place in December). Please note that when you submit a request for Credits Transfer via myEduRec, you must ensure that the number of MCs to be transferrred is 10 MCs or less.
Students can transfer a total of 12 MCs from a maximum of 2 overseas summer/winter programmes without having to pay tuition at NUS during their course of study at NUS. Any additional MCs mapped will be subjected to NUS Special Term fees.
NUS students must:
- Be a full-time Faculty of Science student.
- Have a clean disciplinary record.
- Not intending to graduate at the end of Semester 2.
- National Servicemen who are not called up for In-Camp Training (ICT). Deferment letter will not be provided.
Number of Places
There are 15 places available for each summer session. Students can only go for one summer session.
Students do not need to pay NUS Special Term fees nor tuition fees to UofT. However, students are responsible for their own airfare, accommodation, meals, personal expenses, etc.

Programme Application Procedure and Deadline
To apply, login to myEduRec and submit your application under External Study Type ‘Summer/Winter’.
Applications for 2019 will open from 2 to 16 January 2019 . Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview.

Exclusions to the NUS Student Travel Insurance may apply. Students are to ensure that they have sufficient travel insurance coverage, and may consider purchasing additional travel insurance if required.
